You decide who will win $10,000, embark on an expedition in a Winnebago RV, and appear in Outside Magazine
I've explored most of the western US, but need to get to the other side of the country soon! Big Bend National Park is top of list. Growing up in Oregon instilled a love of being outdoors early on. I've been fortunate enough to explore Crater Lake, the Redwoods, Yosemite, the Sequoias, Channel Islands, Joshua Tree, the Grand Canyon, the Carlsbad Caverns, Bryce Canyon, Death Valley, Grand Tetons, and Zion.
What has been your favorite adventure experience?I set the world record for fastest woman to race 6 triathlons on 6 continents by traveling to Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Tangier, Muscat, Sydney, and Malibu. This was the best way to explore a new city in very little time–by jumping in the ocean, riding my bike around town, and lastly covering ground by foot. Also memorable was quitting my corporate job in 2015 to road trip solo around the country for a year with a renovated pop-up trailer. There's so much to see just within the US!
What would you do with $10,000?I'd put it to my next record attempt of racing 7 triathlons on 7 continents in 7 days (beginning with Antarctica). My record was a fundraiser for the 501 (c)(3) nonprofit ZGiRLS, who instill self confidence in middle school girls through online programs led by professional female athletes. I've seen how adventuring can be a confidence builder– experiences like summiting Mt Whitney, taking a solo backpacking trip through the Sierras, and hiking through national parks have been transformative.
