You decide who will win $10,000, embark on an expedition in a Winnebago RV, and appear in Outside Magazine
I've always felt a special pull toward New Zealand, so I would have to say I dream of visiting Fiordland National Park. There is immeasurable beauty in those landscapes and waterfalls. The thought of experiencing their indigenous culture firsthand gives me chills. Witnessing a Haka in person? I would probably cry.
What has been your favorite adventure experience?I hike with a nonprofit organization called The Summit Project which annually honors post-9/11 fallen Maine soldiers. Special stones intricately etched with the initials of a fallen hero are carried to the summit by hikers as a tribute to the fallen's sacrifice. At the summit, stories are shared and legacies are honored. We then gather with the families for a potluck at base camp, sharing laughter and tears. These events are more than a hike; they are a profound honor.
What would you do with $10,000?Winning $10,000 wouldn't just fund a journey to see new sights; it would fuel a deeper quest for understanding and personal growth. I would travel not merely to check destinations off a list, but to immerse myself in diverse cultures, engage with people from all walks of life, and absorb the wisdom of different traditions. This journey would be about embracing the unfamiliar, learning from it, and returning home with a richer, more compassionate worldview.
